Jack Casey

Born 1947, Norfolk, Va.

I attended St.Petersburg Jr. College, University of Tampa and the University of South Florida, Tampa.

I have been producing abstract art in one form or another since college.  These sculptures have been the result of my fascination with non objective art.  They are in the collections of the University of South Florida, Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and Alachua County Health Department along with being in many private collections, both national and international.
I also have been teaching drawing and painting since 1975.  First, I taught at Loch Have Art Center, Orlando and Valencia Community College, Orlando.
I taught a six week oil painting class at the Indian Rocks Beach Art Center in 2016.  These days I teach private lessons at my studio.
I have been restoring oil painting since 1984.  Often paintings are missing sections of the canvas so these areas must be perfectly in-painted.
With my involvement with oil painting, both taught and restored, I began producing oil paintings in 1991.
As an artist with a digital camera, I am constantly taking pictures that could become subjects for paintings.
If I had to say what my work is about, both abstract and realistic, I would say it’s about tranquility.  The twilight paintings and the abstract works are meant to take the viewer to a peaceful place.
